Home care may start with a carer accompanying you to the shops or making the bed and doing the laundry once a week. We take everything at your pace and provide your care in a style that suits you.

Some require elderly home care if they are in their senior years and require specific support with mobility in and around their home, keeping their cupboards stocked up and ensuring their home is clean and tidy. Whereas other people may need support travelling to and from work or college, or going out for the day with their carer or visiting friends. We’ll meet your needs and create a support plan tailored around you, so that you can live the life you want to lead and on your terms.

Carers for limited hour visits

If you care for a loved one during the day but need someone to step in during night times, overnight care from the York team enables your loved one to have the support they need whilst you get a restful night’s sleep, safe in the knowledge that you have professional carers taking your place. And if you decide to have carers on a more permanent basis throughout the day, we can provide regular visiting care to help with the housework, personal care and companionship.

Intermittent long-term visits

Taking a break is an integral part of life, and just because you have care needs, it shouldn’t mean that you can’t relax on holiday like anyone else. With respite care, we can accompany you to your chosen destination and stay with you for the duration, ensuring you have the right support in place while you enjoy a well-earned break. We can even come with you if you’re taking a holiday with the rest of your family, meaning you don’t have to worry about your care needs and you can all enjoy your holiday together as a family.

Carers for immediate situations

If you’ve just been discharged from hospital or your regular caregiver has been called away, emergency care from the York team can usually be in place on the same day as your call to us. That way, you can convalesce at home if you’re recovering from an illness or injury until you’re back to your old self again, or until your carer returns, with expert care from our empathetic carers.

Qualities such as compassion and kindness are the key traits we look for when employing carers, rather than previous care experience, because those natural qualities aren’t something that can be taught.

Once selected, our new recruits have thorough background checks including a Disclosure Barring Service (DBS) screening and undergo in-house award winning training. Modules cover manual handling, first aid, personal care, safeguarding and medication. In addition to this initial course, all care staff are required to complete refresher training so that they are always up to date with the latest and safest industry practices.
