What’s included with personal care at Helping Hands?

Home care from our Plymouth team can start from as little as 30-minute visits per week and progress all the way up to full-time live-in care, where a carer lives with you in your home to be on hand whenever you may need them.

Your care is completely unique to you and we can adapt to your changing needs so that you always have the right support for you. Collecting shopping and doing your housework may initially be what your carers do for you but as time goes by, you may find that you need support with personal care, administering medication, getting in and out of bed and continence care.

Do you need personal care services in Plymouth?

Although many of our customers receive elderly care to support with their mobility and everyday activities at home, lots of our care is also condition-led and centred around someone’s specific health needs such as dementia care or cerebral palsy care.

We can also provide care for more complex needs such as a neurological condition or spinal injury, which requires input from our clinical teams who have extensive experience in the medical sector. They will work alongside other health care professionals to ensure that you have a complete package of care that is suited to you and your needs.

Short term care at home

For support with cleaning, vacuuming, doing the laundry, light gardening and making your lunch, visiting care is the ideal solution for those that just need a little extra helping hand once a day or a couple of times a week at home. Although you may not necessarily need help with getting washed and dressed, home care for limited visits means that you have the extra reassurance of a friendly face and support on your terms, enabling you to live independently in the comfort of your own home.

Intermittent long-term care

If you care for a loved one full time and need to take a break, respite care can fit into your existing care routine seamlessly, enabling you to have a much-needed rest whilst your loved one still gets the right care they need without having to move into residential care. And if you fancy taking a trip to a warmer place, our carers can even accompany you all on holiday so that you can have the family holiday you deserve without having to worry about your loved one’s care needs.

Immediate start carers

The need for care often arises at short notice after an illness, injury or change in circumstance at home. Emergency care enables you to have care swiftly in place, usually on the same day of your call to us, so that you can rest assured that there is someone there to take care of you and will support you on your road to recovery or until your situation at home goes back to how it was before.

As well as undergoing theoretical and practical training, we ensure that our new recruits have enhanced Disclosure Barring Service (DBS) screenings and several character references. Above all, we ensure that they are genuinely compassionate and caring individuals who are always willing to go the extra mile and put others first.
