What Is Supported Living?

Supported living is there to help people with disabilities live as independently as possible and fully access their local surroundings. By not having to live in a care home or residential facility you get to live much more independently as you might otherwise, while enjoying the support and friendship of your dedicated carer who will provide one-to-one, dedicated care. Whether you remain in your family home and have professional support on an occasional basis, or you wish to live in your own property and need live-in care to make this a reality, our amazing carers will work tirelessly to make sure you get to live the life you want to. Our person-centred care services will ensure that you are always fully supported, and your personalised support plan will include every aspect of your daily routines.

Choosing live-in or visiting care for yourself or a loved one can make all the difference to being able to enjoy independence, and for over 30 years Helping Hands have been supporting adults living with disabilities to experience an improved quality of life. This can also lead to increased levels of confidence and happiness; means you’ll be supported to make your own choices and retain more control over your life.

How We Administer Supported Living At Home

We offer care for supported living on both a visiting and live-in basis, which includes respite care and care for complex conditions, such as dementia, physical and mental disabilities. Visiting care is available from just 30 minutes per week, meaning that you get regular care in your own home at a time and of a duration to suit your needs. Whether you need help with keeping your home clean and tidy, cooking nutritious meals or doing your laundry, our carers will be able to support you. If your needs are more complex and you need help with personal care, mobility, continence care, dementia care, medication and overnight support then we can help with these too, as well as making sure you get to access your favourite elements of the local community. Our live-in carers will be able to do all of this for you too, as well as giving you and your loved ones additional reassurance that you’re never on your own at home, with companionship available around the clock.

Why Choose Supported Living Over Residential Care?

Admitting that you need care can be difficult and daunting at first, especially if you presume that your only option is to go into a residential facility or care home. However, with supportive care at home from Helping Hands, you can stay in the place you love, maintaining your independence and living your life exactly as you wish. When you have care at home you are always in control; you decide how to live and what you fill your days with, choosing the time you get up, go to bed and eat. Your carer fits around you and your requirements, not the other way around, so you’ll never have to wait because your carer is too busy to help you.

Our dedicated supported living care will also enable you to be encouraged to undertake activities outside of your home, such as social calls, entertainment, and attending day centres. Our carers are chosen because of their natural qualities of compassion and commitment, meaning they deliver the highest quality care at all times. And because we’re fully regulated by the CQC and CIW, you and your loved ones can be confident when we say we’ll always maintain our consistently high standards.
