What’s included with care at Helping Hands?

Home care covers all aspects of daily living such as supporting you with personal care, getting in and out of bed, help with administering medication and preparing meals. Additionally, our carers can also help with the housework, looking after your pets and light gardening, as well as doing your shopping, collecting prescriptions and accompanying you to appointments.

Your support plan is created around you and your requirements, so that you get the most out of your care. One week you may need help with changing the bedsheets and ensuring your home is clean and tidy, whereas the next week you may want to take things at a slower pace and relax whilst your carer makes your dinner and takes the time to have a cup of tea with you when they come and see you. Your care is flexible and adaptable to you and your changing needs.

Do you need care at home?

You may be living with Alzheimer’s and need round-the-clock care from a live-in carer, you may be in your twenties with cerebral palsy and need support accessing your local community or you may be in your senior years and need a couple of hours’ support a week to help with the housework. Whatever your health care needs, we can support you to remain living independently in your own home.

Short term home care support

For regular care calls throughout the week, visiting care is an ideal option if you need support little and often around the home or perhaps support with getting dressed and ready for the day. We’ll come and see you at a time convenient to you and provide you with the helping hand you need to get on with your day. We’ll even support you with overnight care if you struggle getting in and out of bed in the early hours. That way, you always have peace of mind that someone is there when you need them most.

Intermittent long-term care

If your regular caregiver needs to take a break, our carers can step in and provide you with the support you need so that you both have a bit of a change whilst maintaining your care preferences. Respite care can become a vital part of your care routine for both you and your regular carer, allowing you both to have some space for a couple of weeks and giving you both a break.

Immediate start home help carers

If you find that you need care urgently, emergency care can usually be arranged on the same day that you get in touch with us. Instead of worrying about how you’ll cope at home when you’re discharged from hospital or what will happen now that your regular caregiver has been taken ill, our friendly carers will swiftly put your mind at ease and provide bespoke support to you at home until things return to how they were.

Expert carers

The team are totally dedicated to caring for those in extra need across Gloucester and the surrounding areas. Their friendly demeanour and caring nature are exactly what we look for when recruiting carers to join our team. And to ensure they have the practical skills required to provide exceptional care, they undergo our award-winning training programme that covers manual handling, personal care, dementia, medication and safeguarding. This level of attention isn’t always the case for other care agencies, which is why our Gloucester team are better than other care agencies in Gloucester.

We are also founding members of the United Kingdom Health Care Association (UKHCA), who promote the highest standards in home care across the UK, including providing the latest and safest practices to customers via their carers.

Arranging live in care in Gloucester

If you’re considering care for yourself or a loved one, you can call our customer care specialists seven days a week. They’ll run through the different options available to you and arrange a home visit with our branch care manager to discuss your care needs in more detail.
