Meet the Christchurch care team
Branch Care Manager
Hello, I am responsible for managing the team at Helping Hands Christchurch, which includes both the office team and our amazing team of carers who deliver care everyday to enable our service users to remain in their own homes. Care is at the heart of everything we do, regardless of whether the team are working face to face delivering care or working tirelessly behind the scenes to make sure everyone is safe. We work alongside a variety of health care professionals to ensure we provide the highest quality of care, and support as many people as we possibly can. My journey in care started whilst I was studying at university. I have worked with Helping Hands for over three years, working in various roles in both West Sussex and Dorset. I am extremely passionate about domiciliary care and enhancing the quality of our customers' lives to remain in their own homes, surrounded by loved ones. I find it extremely rewarding when we achieve a positive outcome to someone we support and their family, and also support our team to deliver the best care possible.

Home care in and around Christchurch
-
For over 30 years, we have been providing home care services across England and Wales to those in need of a little extra support around the house, or more intensive care for long-standing medical conditions. With the knowledge and experience of our compassionate carers, paired with the responsive leadership and expertise of our branch managers and area care managers – we are equipped to provide all-round support that fits in with your lifestyle and preferences.
Creating support plans around you, we’ll work with you to find out exactly where and how you need help – whether that’s someone to take you shopping once a week and help you prepare your meals, or if you need daily calls to help you get in and out of bed. We’ll be there when you need us and always with a smile on our carers’ faces.
The aim of visiting care is to enable you to retain your independence and live life how you want to. So, if you live with dementia and need support when you’re out of the house or if you have cerebral palsy and need help with personal care and mobilising safely – we’ll put the right level of care in place for you.

Extra reassurance with Agency care in Christchurch
-
Helping Hands agency care allows you to retain your independence at home, just with a little extra help when you require. So, whether you need assistance with the housework and taking out the bins, or if you just want to have a catch up over a cup of tea about the latest goings-on in Christchurch, you can rely on our friendly carers to do just that.
If you are looking for agency care for a loved one that lives in a different county than you or perhaps even a different country, agency care can provide the peace of mind that you both need. Your loved one will have both their physical and emotional needs catered for, so that you don’t have to worry about them struggling to cope or feeling lonely.

Christchurch live-in care for complex conditions
-
Designed to give you complete peace of mind at home, live-in care covers all of your care needs with the added bonus of a carer living with you and being on hand throughout the day and night, should you need it. Many people decide to choose live-in care as a direct alternative to moving into a nursing home due to the many benefits it offers, such as choice over routines, one-to-one care and living within the comforts of your own home.
Our live-in care teams are fully supported by a team of expert clinicians, who have many years of nursing experience and are able to offer support and detailed training to our live-in carers when more complex conditions arise. For example, if you require specialist PEG feeding after a stroke or long-term health condition, expert nurses will ensure that you receive a package of care that’s tailored to your specific needs, with a live-in carer that’s right for you.
Live-in care is also a great option to consider if you’re elderly and live with your partner and you both need assistance around the house, administering medication or if one of you has personal care needs that the other is unable to help with. Not only do you have peace of mind that both of you have the support that you need, but you won’t have the upheaval and stress of leaving one another to move into residential care.

Private care that you can rely on
-
As we get more dependent, some of the things that we used to be able to do – like changing the beds, watering the plants and getting up and down the stairs – become more difficult, particularly if you develop arthritis or experience other mobility-hindering symptoms. That’s where the Christchurch team of private carers can step in. They’ll get to know what you need help with and what you’d prefer to still do yourself, so that you get the perfect balance of care and independence.
What’s more, we’ll make sure that you don’t miss out on family events or social occasions when you want to catch up with your friends. We can even take you to medical appointments or to the hairdressers for your monthly trim if you struggle to do so alone.

Specialist dementia care in Christchurch
-
Here at Helping Hands, we understand how dementia affects each individual very differently. Not only are there several types of dementia, but symptoms can present themselves in a variety of different ways and change with time. That’s why we are dementia care specialists and ensure that every single one of our carers are trained in the latest dementia practices.
As well as offering the most suitable support to the individual, we also recognise how dementia affects the people around the person living with the condition. So, if your mother or father has Alzheimer’s and you’re struggling to cope with the amount of care they need and how it’s affecting your relationship, we’ll step in to alleviate some of the stress and worry that you may be feeling, offering person-centred care to your loved one and support to you.

Respite care for emergencies and short breaks
-
Caring for a close friend, spouse or family member can be one of the best jobs that you could ever do, but it can take its toll on your energy levels, well-being and motivation if you constantly care for weeks at a time without a break. It’s really important that you’re able to take a step back and have a well-earned rest, without worrying that your loved one isn’t getting the care they need. That’s where respite care from Helping Hands can become a vital part of your routine.
For planned breaks, we’ll meet with both of you to understand exactly what you require support with and exactly how you like things done. For unplanned breaks when your carer has to leave quickly due to illness or an emergency, we can step in – often within 24 hours from when you get in touch with us – to swiftly put a support plan in place that caters to all of your needs.

Fully-trained, compassionate live-in carers local to you
-
One thing above all others that we look for when recruiting carers in Christchurch is that they are truly empathetic and passionate about caring for others. Along with these key traits, our carers receive a full background check, including a Disclosure Barring Service (DBS) screening and character references, before embarking upon our award-winning training programme delivered by our in-house instructors. Covering modules such as manual handling, personal care, medication, first aid and safeguarding, the training they receive ensure they are equipped to support those with a variety of different needs in your local area.
All personal care services are provided by our Care Quality Commission (CQC) registered office Helping Hands Dorset, who make sure we carry out safe, compliant and responsive practices, whilst delivering what we say we will and when we say we will. We are also a founding member of the Home Care Association (HCA), who develop and promote the highest standards of care in the home care industry.
