High quality care services from Helping Hands

Home care covers a whole host of different types of support, including visits little and often for low levels of care, all the way up to 24-hour support via personal care.

We also provide care for specific health conditions such as dementia, cerebral palsy, Parkinson’s and cancer, as well as having a team of clinical nurses to support more complex care needs such as tracheostomies, stomas, catheters and PEG feeding.

And it’s not just help with personal care that we offer – we can also support with shopping, collecting medication, taking you to appointments and general companionship too.

Why you may need live in care in Birmingham

The reasons why someone may require personal care will vary from person to person, and that’s exactly why we create bespoke support plans for all of our customers. As well as recognising your immediate needs, we can adapt around your changing needs to. So, if you are elderly and initially have a couple of visits per week to support you with the housework, we can increase the amount of visits and level of care you receive if you find that you need help with washing, getting dressed and getting in and out of bed.

Carers for limited hour visits

Whether you’re in your twenties and need help with your mobility when you leave the house to visit friends or if you’re in your seventies and you need help getting to the doctors and collecting medication, visiting care may be just the thing you need to support you. Designed to fit around your existing lifestyle, our friendly carers can visit you from as little as 30 minutes per week to several hourly visits throughout the day.

And if you need more support during the night, we can also deliver overnight care to you to help with taking medication, getting to and from the toilet and being there if you’re feeling particularly anxious in the early hours.

Intermittent long-term visits

Getting away for a break can be just the tonic you sometimes need, but for those who require extra support with their personal needs, this may be too much to manage by yourself. With respite care from the Birmingham team, you can get to your favourite holiday destination and enjoy some real relaxation with the reassurance of having a carer by your side throughout your break.

Periods of long-term visits may also be suitable for you if you’ve just been discharged from hospital after an illness or operation, or your regular caregiver needs to take a bit of time to recharge their batteries. We can arrange for support to be in place until you’re feeling more like yourself again or your carer has returned from their break.

Carers for immediate situations

Emergencies arise for all kinds of reasons; perhaps you’ve had an illness that has knocked you off your feet or the carer you usually rely on has let you down or needs a period of time away. Whatever your situation, we can provide emergency care at the drop of a hat, ensuring that you’ll never be left without care when you need it the most.

Birmingham's expert carers

The fantastic team of carers all do what they do because they have a passion for helping others. And that’s exactly what we look for in all of our carers when recruiting, regardless of experience.

To ensure that they’re prepared to deliver the high standard of care Helping Hands is known for, they complete a thorough assessment and selection process, including rigorous background checks, theoretical and practical training and a full induction programme to shadow existing carers. We also offer regular refresher courses and advanced training for those that want to specialise in particular areas of care.
