Pet care
From feeding to dog walking and more
Looking after a beloved pet can be difficult if you are aging, unwell or lacking mobility.
That’s where pet care at home can help. Your pet is part of your family, and there are great benefits to being able to stay in the comfort of your own home with the love and companionship of your furry friend.
With the support of a Helping Hands carer, you and your pet can continue to enjoy one another’s company and your pet can continue to live the happy, healthy life you want for them.
The benefits of home care for you and your pet
The onset of old age or illness doesn’t have to mean giving up your lifestyle, or your pets.
Homecare services provide you with an alternative to residential care or a hospice which enables you and your pet to stay at home with each other. Your pet’s health and happiness can play a big part in how you feel yourself, so we’ll make sure you’re able to continue living together.
Pet care can have a number of tangible benefits, including:
Reduce your stress levels
Keeping a pet can help reduce stress levels and be a source of fun
Valued companionship
If you’re on your own, a furry friend can be a great companion
Provide daily routine
Walking and feeding pets can become a helpful daily routine
Familiar environment
A pet can add to the warmth and familiarity of your home environment
What our pet services cover
Whilst we don't care solely for a pet, both live-in and visiting carers can support you to keep you living independently at home whilst helping with your furry friend(s).
Your pets bring happiness and comfort every day, no matter what shape or size they may be. Essential jobs can cause a little too much strain if you are elderly or unwell, so your carer will either carry out these tasks for you, or assist you to help keep up your usual routine.
Feeding your pets
Your pet’s dietary requirements can be just as particular as yours, if not more so! Your pet will be fed and watered to your exact specifications to keep them and you happy and healthy.
Cleaning cages and litter trays
Your carefully selected carer will support you with the messier tasks that come with being a pet owner. Your carer will be happy to carry out cleaning duties such as emptying litter trays and cleaning out fish tanks and cages.
Dog walking and other exercises
The routine you maintain with your pet is important to you both, so your local carer will manage walks and exercising for you to take off the pressure and make sure your pet doesn’t have to be re-homed.
Running errands
You might run out of pet food unexpectedly, or have a visit to the vets arranged that you are unable to get to yourself. Our carers will gladly pop to the shops or accompany you and your pet on errands or to appointments.
The options for pet care at home
We’re able to support you through either dedicated visiting care or live-in care, depending on your needs.
Whether you need support with walking your dog, emptying your cat’s litter tray or assisted visits to the vets, you can arrange regular home visits from a visiting carer at convenient times to help with these tasks and much more.
Visits from 30 minutes a week
Flexible support
Scheduled around you
A live-in carer or companion can be on hand to support you 24 hours a day and provide the exact care and support that you and your pet need, meaning your pet will be able to fully adjust to your carer.
