Memory care
Our specialised memory care services
If your loved one is experiencing memory problems, it could be a sign of dementia. But with memory care, it is still possible to live an independent life at home.
Dementia is a progressive condition, which means symptoms will get worse with time. According to the Alzheimer’s Society, “Age is the strongest known risk factor for dementia; the chance of developing dementia rises significantly with age.”
It affects people differently, but one of the most common symptoms of dementia is memory loss. The Alzheimer’s Society states, “This is because dementia is caused by damage to the brain, and this damage can affect areas of the brain involved in creating and retrieving memories.”
This can be distressing for the person living with the condition and their loved ones, which is why we offer compassionate and empathetic dementia care in the comfort of your loved one’s home.
Person-centred support
Our care is bespoke and is focused around your loved one’s needs. So we will do plenty of activities to aid them with their memory. Whether that’s completing crosswords, puzzles or listening to music, we will work hard to fulfil their requirements.
Invest time in hobbies
Some hobbies, like playing an instrument, can help to improve your loved one’s memory. It is also suggested that playing board games and reading can prevent dementia in later life. So we will ensure we continue to do things they enjoy.
Companionship
Interacting with others can benefit your loved one’s memory. It also provides a sense of comfort and positively impacts their well-being. Whether that’s sharing memories or stories, our carers genuinely make the best companions.
Emotional support
Living with dementia and experiencing memory loss can have a huge impact emotionally on everyone, which is why our carers are there to support you and your loved one in any way you need.
Remain at home
Staying at home allows your loved one to remain in a familiar environment, where they feel safe, calm and comfortable. Plus it’s a place where they have built so many special memories.
Exploring the community
Our carers can accompany your loved one to their favourite local spots. Maybe a café they like to visit with family and friends. These trips are valuable and can help trigger memories.
Trained caregivers for memory support
Our carers are fully trained to provide our customers with the care they need without compromising their independence or routine. We understand that dementia affects people in different ways, which is why our carers work hard to full your loved one’s needs.
Our carers also work together with our nursing team. They have years of experience within the care sector, including the NHS. Our nursing team guide our carers to provide safe and person-centred care for those living with complex conditions like dementia.
We are also a member of the Dementia Action Alliance, which means our carers are fully trained to support your loved one’s lifestyle. For added reassurance, our care is regularly monitored by the Care Quality Commission and Care Inspectorate Wales. So, you can have complete confidence knowing your loved one will receive a kind, caring and empathetic service.
