Hear from one of our visiting care customers
We caught up with one of our visiting care customers, Oscar, to find out how having a carer at home has helped him to live more independently and confidently, as well as supporting him to be more productive and focused as he manages his Asperger’s.

Visiting care FAQs
-
Can I choose my own carer?
-
With visiting care, whilst it’s not always possible to handpick your own carer, we will always take your needs and preferences into account so that we can pair you with someone who matches your personality and will be able to provide you with the type and level of support you require.
-
What is hourly care?
-
Hourly care is a support option where your carer will visit you for an hour at a time, ensuring you get the support you require at the times of day when you really need it. This is a flexible care option that allows you to continue living life on your own terms.
-
Is hourly care the same as visiting care?
-
Yes, hourly care and visiting care are the same thing, although it is worth noting that Helping Hands also offer 30 and 45-minute care visits.

How we wrote this page
This page has been produced referencing key insights and data from external experts, trusted medical sources and our team of in-house specialists. We have worked hard to ensure that all information is as accurate as possible and reflects current consensus at the time of writing and reviewing.
Social care funding accepted
If you’re receiving social care funding through your local authority for visiting care and have a personal budget or have opted for direct payments, we are able to accept top-ups to these payments.
By choosing this option, you have the flexibility to choose your care provider rather than this being arranged for you by your local authority. You can organise this care yourself and pay for it directly, topping up the payments if needed.
