Is long term care cheaper than a care home?
Long-term care is a cost-effective alternative to receiving care from a residential care home.
If you and your partner need care, you’ll find yourself paying more to receive care in a residential care home, as you will be paying for two people. By receiving care at home, you can stay together and in the place you truly love. You’ll be close to loved ones, beloved pets and a place where you have built so many special memories.
Plus, you’ll receive one-to-one, empathetic care from our carers, something which residential care homes cannot offer. We will work around you so you can continue to maintain your routine and independence in the comfort of your own home.
Long term care expenses
Keeping up with long-term care expenses can be overwhelming, but we will always be upfront with you on our costs and fees. Plus, you may also be entitled to funding; here’s a little more information.
Financial funding
Depending on your personal circumstances, you may be entitled to care funding from your local authority. These include Pensions Credit, Attendance Allowance and Carer’s Allowance for those caring for loved ones. You can request a financial assessment from your local council to see how they can help with your care costs.
Benefits
You may also be entitled to benefits during the colder months, including heating benefits. This includes Winter Fuel Payments, Cold Weather Payments and Warm Home Discount Scheme. You may also be entitled to Council Tax Reduction, which means you can save money on your council tax bill.
Private funding
You can pay for care via direct debit payments. So you have the option to top up your payments via direct debit if you are receiving extra funding. If you have any problems paying for care please speak to our care team we will be happy to help.
