This beautiful story demonstrates what it truly means to go above and beyond – Lisa Gorman, a carer from the Godalming branch, gifted her customer Grace with one of the most thoughtful gifts a person could receive.

Lisa-and-Grace

One of our Helping Hands customers, Mr John Evans, recently passed away. He’d been with us since the 18th of February 2019, and his wife, Mrs Grace Evans, is still one of our customers. They got married in 1950 and spent 71 blissful years happily married. Because of the support from Helping Hands and our carers, they were able to spend the last three years together at home with our help.

Grace-and-John

They were very much in love and totally adored each other, which was always lovely for the team at Godalming to see when they spent time with Grace and John. Grace did everything for John; she cooked him fresh vegan meals every day and encouraged him in keeping well.

Grace is going to be lost without John. Lisa Gorman, our private carer, demonstrated what it truly means to be kind by getting Grace a thoughtful gift she can hold dearly during those times when she is missing John most. Lisa got one of John’s favourite shirts from Grace and used it to make a precious cushion and a heart. As you can imagine, Grace absolutely loved this gesture and completely treasures this thoughtful gift.

It sounds like Lisa and Grace have a lovely bond between them, and we hope to see more from their time together.
