Domiciliary care designed with you in mind
-
Whether you’re in your eighties and require regularly daily calls to support you with your mobility, or you’re in your twenties and need assistance to get out and about to stay connected with your friends – domiciliary care enables you to retain your independence without having to forego your chosen lifestyle.
Domiciliary care – also known as visiting care – puts you in control of your care. With visits starting from as little as 30 minutes per week all the way up to several daily calls, including waking night calls, we’ll work with you to find a carer and care package that suits you.
-
Dementia care that provides peace of mind
-
The term ‘dementia’ covers over 100 different types of conditions that affect individuals in a variety of ways. Whether it’s vascular dementia, Pick’s disease or Alzheimer’s, we’ll get to know both you and your family to find out what type of care you need and how we can support all of you.
As dementia specialists, we know how important it is to consider the person underneath the dementia and not just the condition itself. That’s why all of our carers are trained to recognise, understand and support those living with the condition to ensure they live their life in the way that they desire.

Elderly care to enable you to retain your independence
-
Just because you’ve reached a certain age, it doesn’t mean that you have to surrender your independence, hobbies and home. With elderly care from Sam’s team, you can retain your chosen lifestyle but with a bit of extra assistance as and when you require.
If you’re a regular on the golf green but struggle to get there and back, we’ll ensure you get their safely. Or if you’re a love a good laugh at a comedy night but struggle to sit still for longer than an hour at a time, we’ll put arrangements in place so that you can still attend.
-
Respite care for your short-term needs
-
Caring for a loved one can often be much more than just looking after a loved one’s care needs on a daily basis. Although caring for others is extremely rewarding, it’s important to make sure you take a well-earned break to enable you to take a step back, have a rest and provide the very best care that you’re able to. That’s where respite care can be vital for both you and your loved one.
We’ll swiftly step in and arrange care, usually within the same day as your initial enquiry. Where possible, we’ll meet with both of you to ensure that we get everything spot on – including what time you like to get up in the morning to how much milk you take in your tea.
We can even support you if you decide to take a trip away or have an important family function to attend but are unable to do so alone. The great thing about respite care from Helping Hands is that it allows you to still do the things you want to, regardless of your condition.

Award-winning training for carers in Ferndown
-
Helping Hands are proud to be fully-regulated by the Care Quality Commission (CQC), which ensures we are providing a safe, effective and responsive service. As well as being a founding member of the United Kingdom Home Care Association (UKHCA), we are also part of Dementia Action Alliance (DAA) who are committed to transforming the lives of those living with dementia.
We couldn’t be an industry leader in home care if it wasn’t for our thousands of carers that go above and beyond every single day for our customers. And it’s for this reason that we value them so highly and ensure they have only the very best training to equip them in the field.
Recognised as a Centre of Excellence by Skills for Care, our in-house training programme covers first aid, moving and lifting, safeguarding, health and safety, medication and dementia. All of our carers, including the Ferndown team, follow this programme and are also subjected to a stringent selection process, including screenings from the Disclosure Barring Service (DBS).
