Meet the Halesowen care team
Branch Care Manager
I am a mother to three children and two step children. I am married and enjoy spending quality time with my family and making lasting memories. I do enjoy floristry in my spare time and you will often find me creating arrangements and utilising any objects that I can. I like to walk and spend time walking along the local canal, especially in the summer months, with a picnic. I love being involved with community activities and over the last two years have had the privilege of being a volunteer for the charity Re-engage. This involves having group parties to my home and welcoming them with a lovely afternoon tea. I get so much enjoyment from this and listening to all of their stories of their past lives and present, even whilst they have me constantly at the kettle and getting through 12 pots of tea in two hours!

Home care Halesowen
-
Our very first customers were cared for in Warwickshire, not far from Halesowen, in 1989 where Helping Hands was founded by Mary Lee. The same family values that underpinned our service over 30 years ago still feature heavily in our home care offer and are values that the team still uphold today.
Whether you need support once a week or several calls throughout the day, we’ll assist you with personal care, preparing meals or even gentle prompts to remind you to take your medication. Care plans are designed to fit around you and cater for all of your needs, no matter how intensely or regularly you need support.
So, whether you are receiving cancer treatment and need an extra pair of hands to help you around the house because you are mentally and physically drained, or if you have Parkinson’s and struggle with your hand and eye coordination that makes it difficult to get dressed, we’ll be there to support you whenever you need us.

Round-the-clock assistance with live-in care
-
With live-in care, you are able to receive the very best one-to-one support without having to leave the comforts of your own home and move into residential care, which is often not a desirable option. We’ll ensure that your daily routines, requirements and care needs are all worked into your package of care and work with you to find the most suitable arrangement for you.
Supported by our experienced team of clinical nurses, we can also care for individuals with more complex health difficulties such as tracheostomies, PEG feeding, nasogastric feeding tube, catheters, stomas or ventilators. We believe that home care services should be available to anyone who wishes to remain where they feel most comfortable and safe, which is why so many people choose live-in care.
As well as making sure all of your care needs are catered for, we’ll also work with you to find a suitable carer for you in both experience and personality. We know how important it is that you and your live-in carer get along with one another and have similar interests, as care isn’t just about physical wellbeing – it’s also about emotionally and spiritual wellbeing too.

Private Care in Halesowen
-
Our bespoke private care service is tailored around you and your care needs, so that you can be confident of a totally personalised solution to your care at home. Being a private care company rather than an agency means our service is fully managed and also regulated by the Care Quality Commission and Care Inspectorate Wales, so you and your loved ones can have the highest confidence in our ability to deliver the care we promise. We value our carers so highly because without them we couldn’t look after our thousands of customers every day, yet we also value our customers and want you to have as hassle-free an experience as possible. This is why you’ll always find our costs to be transparent and easy to follow, with no ‘hidden extra’ such as referral fees.

Flexible options with domiciliary care
-
Whether you’re living in the later stages of your life and need help with keeping on top of the housework or if you’re a young adult that struggles to mobilise safely out of the house and maintain contact with your friends, domiciliary care can help you to keep on top of your care needs and allow you to live the life you want to lead.
Designed around you, we’ll help you to preserve your existing routines and perhaps even make some new ones. So, if you love taking in the sights and sounds of the countryside at Kinver Edge, enjoy soaking up history at the local Black Country Living Museum or want to keep regular lunch dates with your friends, we’ll accompany you to your chosen activity and make sure you have the best day.

Support for living with dementia
-
There are lots of anxieties and worries that come with a dementia diagnosis, not just for the individual, but for their family too. Dementia care from the Halesowen team is designed to help all of you to understand your particular condition – whether that’s Pick’s disease, vascular dementia or Alzheimer’s.
Although it can be difficult to adjust to some of your symptoms, you can rest assured that your carer will be able to help you make small tweaks to your routines to make your life that little bit easier. All of our carers are thoroughly trained in dementia care and will help you to ‘live well’ with dementia, instead of ‘suffer from’.
-
Elderly care for extra assistance
-
For some, part of getting older may mean difficulties with mobility and more health conditions, even if they have led a relatively healthy life. With elderly care, we’ll help you to age gracefully and retain your independence regardless of your health needs.
Not only will we pop in and help with the housework, watering the plants or helping you to prepare meals, we’ll be there as a companion, someone that you can rely on and look forward to seeing. This can be especially beneficial if you live by yourself or have recently lost a loved one. No one should have to feel lonely in their own home, and the team will certainly not let that happen.
-
Respite care that allows you to take a real break
-
Holidays are a great way to spend quality time with a loved one or your family whilst soaking up the sun and enjoying a change of scenery. Whether you have complex or light care needs, respite care could be the chance for you to all enjoy a break together without having to rely upon a family member to take care of you. A carer will travel with you and make sure you are looked after, whilst enabling you to enjoy the waves lapping at your feet or exploring the local shops.
Sometimes, care needs can arise without prior warning with little or no time to prepare. Well worry not, because with respite care, we can arrange for a carer to be with you in as little as 24 hours to support you after an accident, injury or if your regular caregiver has had to attend an emergency.

Fully-trained carers in Halesowen
-
We employ a variety of different people to become carers – some with extensive care experience, and others without any at all. But what they all have in common is an instinctive desire to support others in an understanding and kind manner, without judgement or prejudice. As well as looking for these qualities, we also carry out strict background checks including character references and Disclosure Barring Service (DBS) screenings.
Once our carers have been selected, they all receive award-winning training either in the Halesowen branch or at our bespoke centre in Warwickshire (live-in carers only). They undertake modules that cover manual handling, personal care, medication, dementia, first aid and safeguarding, which is delivered by our expert in-house teachers.
What’s more, all of our services are closely monitored by the Care Quality Commission (CQC), who ensure that we provide effective, responsive and safe provisions of care to our customers and that we’re delivering exactly what we say we will.
