Meet the North Norfolk care team
Branch Care Manager
Hi, I am the Branch Manager in the Fakenham branch of Helping Hands. My job is to provide a team of well trained and professional carers. These carers provide excellent support to people wanting to remain living independently and safely in their own homes. With the help of a Care Coordinator and Care and Training Practitioner we provide a tailor-made service to customers that is regularly reviewed and altered as changes in need determine. I have worked in care, in various settings since I left school. It was a job I quickly fell in love with and I have never looked back. I could be quoted as telling people constantly that this is the best job in the world. I know this area really well. I live here with my husband and two dogs. We all love living so close to the seaside and we do lots of walking on the beach and swimming in the sea.

Home Care North Norfolk
-
Bringing over 30 years of experience of supporting people in their own homes, we understand that your home is where you feel most comfortable. Our carers are here to make sure this always remains the case.
Care visits are always designed to be flexible and work around your routines and requirements. They can be as little as 30 minutes or last several hours depending on what you need support with.
For example, you might just need a bit of help getting ready in the morning or having a shower. On the other hand, you might need a bit more help with getting around your local area or a higher level of support such as changing catheter bags.
Whatever it is you need support with, our carers will be there to help you when you need them most.

Live-in care in North Norfolk and further afield
-
Living with a progressive condition means that over time, you might find that you need additional support than you have at the moment. Or you might be recovering from a stroke or stay in hospital and would like peace of mind that someone is there at all times to make sure you’re safe.
Live-in care, much like visiting care, is carried out in your own home and covers many of the same areas. The main difference is that the care is 24/7.
That means that you or someone close to you always has someone there to help with personal care, aiding mobility, or more advanced areas such as stomas or specialist equipment.
And because you’ll be spending all your time with them, we carefully select our carers not only based on their experience, but also what hobbies and interests the two of you might have, meaning you’ll be able to get out and do the things you love with a companion who is just as enthusiastic about them.

Domiciliary care that suits you
-
Commonly known as care at home, domiciliary care gives you the freedom to choose the intensity, duration and frequency of your carer visits. You might just need 30-minutes once a week to help you water the hanging baskets, or several overnight stays to help you get in and out of bed whilst your loved ones are working away, nonetheless our carers are here to support you.
-
Caring for a family member with dementia
-
Each person living with dementia is affected in different ways. What might work for one person may not be the same for another.
Our carers are trained to provide flexible care in your own home and keep everything as familiar as possible. As well as helping with medication and personal care, our carers also ensure safety and are trained to manage challenging behaviour.
Because the effects dementia causes vary person to person, we provide a unique solution tailored around yours and your family’s needs. Home care also takes away the distress which may come from a move into residential care.

Arranging respite care for when you need a rest
-
If you’re acting as the main carer for a family member or friend, it can be hard to make time for your own wellbeing. In fact, it’s not uncommon for carers to feel guilty about leaving a loved one or concerned that they will be without the support they need.
Short-term care, also known as respite, gives you the opportunity to take some time for yourself and still ensure that the person you’re supporting is still well-looked after. Respite care is carried out following the same routines you already have in place to keep disruption low and keeps your home in working order ready for when you return.
Whether you just need a weekend away or a couple of weeks recharging, respite care ensures consistency and lets you look after your own emotional and physical health. It can also be used to get a sense of how longer-term home care can help your family or if you need to attend an emergency elsewhere.

Supporting people with complex needs
-
For many people living with complex conditions such as cerebral palsy or motor neurone, knowing the care options available can seem overwhelming. Home care from one of our trained carers based in North Norfolk ensures you or a loved one is able to have the right level care without having to move into a residential or nursing home.
That means you can keep up your familiar routines and still have your existing support network around you. Our carers can assist with carrying out hoisted transfers, PEG feeds, and managing complex medications, with the aim to help you remain independent and comfortable.
We can also assist those recovering from serious brain or spinal injuries, enabling them to have full support with the areas they might find difficult, all with friends and family close by.

Trained North Norfolk live-in carers handpicked by us
-
Our carers all go through a detailed training programme before they head out into the local community. Though each carer has different levels of experience, our training is always mandatory and is endorsed by Skills for Care so you can be sure our carers are receiving the most up to date knowledge and practices.
Our carers also go through a detailed background check, including a DBS check, before starting work with us and as a provider regulated by the Care Quality Commission, yours and your family’s safety is always our highest priority.
To make sure that our carers’ skills are at the highest level, we also provide regular refresher training and other opportunities to develop their skills in specific areas. That means you can be sure we’re following the best and latest practices at all times.
