Supporting people at work
How we support younger adults at work
Born with Spinal Muscular Atrophy, Jemma is one of the many brilliant people we support.
Jemma is fulfilling her dream of teaching Maths to secondary school students in Essex. Jemma explains: “I explain my condition to every class I meet and let them ask me any questions; I try to be as open as I can. In turn the pupils respect me and recognise that being disabled doesn’t make you incapable – just because your legs stop working doesn’t mean your brain does too! Both Emma and Avril help me professionally with the physical classroom preparation, and support me with my care needs and social life.”

You’ll be supported to fully focus on your work and your career without having to worry about all the other areas of your life
Commute with confidence
Your carer will be able to help you get ready for work in the morning, as well as driving you there and picking you up
Support with tasks and chores
Knowing that you’ve got someone there to take care of things around your home can be a great source of reassurance and comfort
