Support for parents
Support for parents from the home care experts
We offer dedicated carer support for parents of children affected by a range of conditions.
Being a parent or guardian means a lifelong commitment of providing emotional support to your children. For some it goes much further. At Helping Hands, we offer home care services for the parents of those affected by a range of conditions.
It might be that you just need a bit of extra help while you take a break from your caring responsibilities, or perhaps your youngster is moving away to university and would benefit from carer support. Whatever your reasons, we’d love to hear how we can help out.
Why opt for extra support for your child?
A little extra support from a carer can make a big difference to you and your youngster.
Whatever your reason for needing extra support, our carers can help you provide the amount of support you and your loved ones require through our bespoke “support for parents” service. Our team ensure that any fears or worries you might have are addressed, and your child gets the level of tailored support they require. We communicate with the whole circle of care to deliver support – including family members and case managers – so that a holistic approach to care can be adopted and maintained. Our young adult care is available to anyone aged 18 and over.
Some of the reasons parents opt for extra support:
Planning for the future
You may be planning for a time when you won’t be able to be your child’s main source of care
Helping to transition into adulthood
You might be helping your child as they transition into adulthood and look to live independently
You need another pair of hands
You may be recovering from surgery or have experienced an accident and need extra help
Read how we’re helping Carol and Gordon
Carol is Gordon’s mum and has been his primary carer since his birth, but after a cancer diagnosis, she was unable to provide Gordon with the support he needed. Carol contacted Helping Hands, and we were able to provide a personalised care plan that ensured both Carol and Gordon were able to retain their independence and focus on the things that were important to them.
