Regional Care Director
As the Regional Care Director for the north, I am responsible for all types of care delivery to our customers - whether it be live-in care or our hourly service. My role involves ensuring that our carers deliver a consistent and seamless high quality of care to our customers. I manage a team of dedicated, hardworking people who strive to deliver a fantastic service. Following a highly successful career in welfare to work, recruitment and training, I wanted to look at a fresh challenge, and following some research and numerous conversations, I believed that the care sector would be a good fit and that I could easily transfer my skills and experience into this role.

Tailored home care in Wigan
-
Since 1989, we have been supporting people in their own homes to give them a choice and enable them to live life on their terms. We place the important of your support plan on your health and medical needs, preferences, safety and wishes, so that you’re cared for in a holistic way that is meaningful to you.
With visiting care, we can provide short, regular visits anywhere from 30 minutes all the way up to hourly calls. And during these visits, we can support you with a whole host of different practical tasks around your home, including cleaning, dusting, washing, vacuuming, taking out the bins and making the beds. As well as helping you to keep on top of the housework, we’ll also assist with any personal care needs – from help with going to the toilet to assistance with washing and bathing, or even putting on make up or shaving.
Our carers providing home care in Wigan are much more than carers; they’re there to support you with the practical tasks but also as a friendly face that you can get to know and build a rapport with. So, if you fancy going out for the afternoon for a stroll down the canal or to Haigh Hall to admire its history, your carers will be more than happy to accompany you.

Better than a care agency in Wigan
-
At Helping Hands, we understand home care, because that’s what we’ve been delivering for our customers since we were established in 1989. We’ve always been a private homecare company, with a foundation based on family values and person-centred care – not what you’d get from a traditional care agency set-up. If we were an agency we’d charge you a fee just to introduce you to a suitable carer, without putting too much thought into whether you have anything in common or if they’re the right sort of person for you, then we’d remove ourselves from the transaction and leave you to manage your care yourself. Of course, we’re not an agency, meaning our fully managed Wigan service is delivered to you on a local level by dedicated carers who are selected to work for us based on their qualities of compassion and empathy. That’s what sets us apart.

24-hour support in Wigan with live-in care
-
Live-in care in Wigan is a direct alternative to residential care and is ideal for someone who requires more intensive support from a dedicated carer who knows the intricacies and minor details about their support plan. Living with you in your home, we’ll match you to a live-in carer that is similar to you in personality and may even share the same interests as you, but who also has experience in your specific health care needs.
For those with complex care needs, our live-in carers receive additional training from our clinical nurses, who will also oversee your package of care.

Private care to retain your independence
-
Private care enables you to keep hold of your independence and autonomy, just with a little helping hand along the way. We’ll be led by you and what your preferences are, so that you have a completely unique support plan tailored to you. Whether you need extra support during the day with running errands, attending appointments or tending to your garden, or you just want a bit of company from time to time, our friendly Wigan home carers can support you with this and so much more. Private care is also great if you have a loved one that needs extra assistance but you are unable to get to them on a regular basis because of travel distance or work commitments. It’ll give you both peace of mind that someone is available to assist your relative throughout the week and prevent loneliness, too.

Training takes place in our Wigan branch and modules include manual handling, dementia, safeguarding, first aid, personal care and medication, among others. Before our new recruits visit their first customers, they are also required to complete an e-learning course and shadow an existing carer so that they can get to know the exactly how care is carried out in the community.
All of our services, including our Wigan branch, are regulated by the Care Quality Commission (CQC), who monitor our carer training, leadership and service, ensuring that it is safe, responsive and effective in its delivery and care for our customers. We are also one of the founding members of the Homecare Association, who promote the latest and safest practices for home care across the UK.
