Do i need live in care in Worcester?

Personal care and live in care covers absolutely anything that you may need extra support with at home, enabling you to continue living the life you want to lead. For some, this may be additional help with the housework, cooking and shopping, with assistance once or twice a week. For others, personal care may be more involved and consist of support with getting dressed, safely manoeuvring in and out of bed, assistance with mobility aids and support with administering medication.

There is no ‘one-size-fits-all’ approach at Helping Hands Worcester; we tailor each person’s support plan to them, so that it’s personalised and adheres exactly to their needs. From practicalities such as which medications they take, to preferences such as what time they like to get up in the morning or how many sugars they take in their tea. Personal care is about supporting the individual in the best way that suits them, whilst being adaptable to their changing needs or ongoing medical condition.

High quality care catered to your needs

Personal care visits from the Worcester team start from 30 minutes a week to several hourly visits throughout the day and can even cover 24-hour live-in care.

Once a client has build a good rapport with their carers, we find that many choose to add additional personal care visits to their support plan as they feel more comfortable asking for extra help with more sensitive issues such as washing, dressing and going to the toilet.

Whereas others may only need us for a short spell, perhaps after they’ve been discharged from hospital or while their regular caregiver is taking a break.

Carers for limited hour visits

For those that are slightly resistant to care or who are used to their independence and can’t quite get their head round the notion of having someone they don’t know come into their home to help them, visiting care could be the ideal solution.

As the name suggests, this personal care service is based on short visits rather than all day or round-the-clock care. It works well for those that may only require a little extra help here and there with getting to appointments, keeping on top of domestic duties or preparing meals.

Intermittent long-term visits

Taking a break from work is something that we all do and are entitled to, but perhaps is even more vital for those that provide full or part-time care to a loved one. Being entrusted to look after a family member or friend is an honour but can take its toll on you both physically and mentally.

That’s where respite care can become an important part of your care routine. Stepping in temporarily, we’ll be there to provide the same personal care and uphold the same routines that you have carefully built up over time, leaving you free to take a step back and some time for yourself, safe in the knowledge that your loved one is getting the right support for them.

Carers for immediate situations

We often face situations we didn’t expect or were unable to plan for, but when this happens to someone who requires urgent support, it can be quite a worrying time. Emergency care from our Worcester team could be the solution you’re looking for at a time of crisis. We’ll provide reassurance and a sense of calm to you and your family, swiftly stepping in and caring for you usually within 24 hours after you first contact us.

Whether it’s personal care and help with keeping your home tidy because your regular caregiver is ill or end-of-life care if you are sadly nearing your last few days, our friendly carers will be there to provide high quality care that’s right for you.

Worcester's expert carers

Berni and her team of talented carers are dedicated to providing first class care to those in the Worcester area. To ensure this, we only select the very best individuals to join our team, vetting them in an extensive assessment and selection process.

They are initially screened with an enhanced Disclosure Barring Service (DBS) check, as well as needing to provide several character references. Once accepted, they then embark on our in-house training programme, where they learn the practical and theoretical skills to provide care to those who are vulnerable in the community. Modules include first aid, safeguarding, manual handling, dementia, personal care and medication.

Our carers never stop learning, and to keep their knowledge up to date with the latest industry standards, all of our carers are required to complete regular refresher courses. Some even opt to specialise in specific areas and enhance their knowledge even further, for example in dementia care, where they are able to obtain official qualifications.
