Pay and Benefits

DIRECT EMPLOYMENT

Rather than acting as an introductory agency (where Carers are employed by the family), Helping Hands directly recruits, trains, assesses and manages our Carers. This works well for both our Carers and our clients.

Our clients and their families are able to concentrate on each other rather than worrying about the technicalities of insurance, wages, sickness or holiday cover. For our Carers, being employed by Helping Hands offers a degree of separation. If issues were to arise for some reason, then our Carers can turn to us for help and support rather than have to confront or deal with the family alone.

This level of support our Carers receive is one of the defining characteristics of working for Helping Hands. You have a Live-in Care Manager to turn to, and someone is on call 24/7 to offer help and advice or assist in the case of an emergency.

The facts and figures

  • The pay scales range from £360 to £490 per week depending of the level of care your client requires
  • 28 days holiday (pro rata) per year; you will accrue 2.33 days holiday for every 30 days you work
  • You are entitled to statutory sick pay. No need to feel guilty if you are off sick, the client is guaranteed cover
  • National Insurance paperwork is completed by us
  • PAYE Tax is deducted and paid by Helping Hands (If you are not a UK national, you can claim the tax back when you return home)

Just a reminder...

As one of our Live-in Carers, you will be living with the person who needs care in their own home 7 days a week.

You will also be expected to work across England and Wales.Typically we do expect a Carer to stay 5 - 8 weeks in a placement before taking a holiday.
